Built of brick and stucco, the James Bay Inn has operated continuously as a hotel except during 1942-45 when, as a war hospital, its most famous guest was Canadian artist and author Emily Carr. Among original embellishments are a wall vault, beveled plate mirrors, and heavy cornices.
